Hospice Care for Veterans
Serving those who have sacrificed for us
Oftentimes, Veterans have unique experiences that require special attention and care. It is important to us that our nation’s heroes get the care and recognition they deserve, while being treated with dignity and respect. Knute Nelson Hospice provides specialized training to our caregivers and volunteers to identify, recognize, and care for the unique needs of Veterans during the final days, weeks, and months of their life.
We Honor Veterans Level 4 Provider
Knute Nelson Hospice is proud to be a level 4 We Honor Veterans provider. We Honor Veterans is a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), and in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the organization provides hospice institutions with the resources they need to serve Veterans with life-enriching care at the end-of-life.
With this status, our promise to Veterans is to:
Provide Veteran-centered hospice care with dignity and respect
Manage pain and symptoms to make every moment matter
Assist with planning and establishing goals for care
Provide spiritual, emotional, and physical support to all Veterans and their families
Provide 24-hour on-call support
Veteran-Centered Support
In addition to being a We Honor Veterans provider, our staff and volunteers strive to provide additional care, support, and services to help Veterans feel recognized, including:
