LEAVE YOUR LEGACY AT THE KNUTE NELSON FOUNDATION

Legacy giving (also known as planned giving) is an incredible way for donors to make a meaningful and impactful gift to the charitable organizations close to their heart.
The Knute Nelson Foundation works with many donors, and each donor is as unique as the next.
For some, legacy giving presents the best option for the impact the donor wants to make and the type of assets they choose to give.
The most common types of legacy gifts are given to the charitable organization after the donor passes away. However, some legacy gifts can be given while the donor is still living. Some donors prefer to make a blended gift, so they can give and see the impact of their gift in their lifetime and also gift the charitable organization assets once they pass away.
Some examples of legacy gifts include:
- Life reserved agreements
- Charitable lead trusts
- Gifts of real estate
- Beneficiary of an IRA or other retirement assets
- Qualified Charitable Distribution from an IRA
- Charitable gift annuities
- Bequests in your will or living trust
The Knute Nelson Legacy Society was created to honor and recognize donors who have named Knute Nelson Foundation in their estate plans. These generous individuals have made an extraordinary commitment and partnership to Knute Nelson’s mission of enriching the lives of everyone we serve.
Jeff Carlson and his late wife Arnice established a legacy gift with the creation of the Jeffrey P. and Arnice R. Carlson Scholarship, to fund scholarships for Knute Nelson caregiving employees who are pursuing higher education.
“I am a retired Zion Lutheran elementary teacher and my late wife, Arnice, was a nursing supervisor at Douglas County Hospital. Arnice and I both believe in education, and we love the idea of paying it forward. I wanted to honor Arnice with leaving our legacy at Knute Nelson – to further their work by supporting their caregivers with scholarships for their continued education and training in health care. My wife and I will forever support growth and education and care for our community.” — Jeff Carlson
