Is It Time to Get Help?
If you are caring for a senior loved one, whether you are a friend, child, or spouse, knowing when to seek help can be a difficult decision to make.
For many, the idea of enlisting help for a senior loved one can be associated with negative connotations of "nursing homes." If that is the case, we have great news for you. Today, in West Central Minnesota, seniors and those who care for and love them can choose from a wide range of modern, fresh, caring options where they can receive personalized, loving care, from a simple help around the house to compassionate end of life care for those in their final days.
But with so many options available, it may be hard for some to understand what the best options are and know when to choose one.
Getting Help: Things to Consider
The senior care professionals at Knute Nelson have developed a simple 25-question senior care survey that can be used to help you understand what level of care your senior may need and when it is time to pursue it, and they can also help you become familiar with the resources available to help smooth the aging care process.
This questionnaire takes just a few minutes to complete. It asks critical question such as:
- The person's current living arrangements
- Whether or not they are driving, and if their driving is safe
- If the person needs help getting care, and if their basic needs are being met
- What sorts of daily activities they enjoy
- If they need help with things like meal prep, housekeeping, or running errands
- If they need help with personal activities such as using the bathroom, getting dressed, or bathing
- And if they have lost interest in daily activities, forget to drink water, tend to wander off and become lost, have trouble remembering how to complete basic activities, and are showing signs of poor judgement
