For many seniors in West Central Minnesota, the name "Knute Nelson" is synonymous with quality care provided with compassion. A few might think of the former Minnesota senator and governor of same name. But the tie between the two isn’t just in name. All of the senior living residences, programs and services currently offered started with Senator Nelson.
He was a philanthropist and renaissance man. In his day, many older adults were cared for at home by their families. He wanted to ensure that all seniors were looked after. When he died, he left his family home and 23 acres in Alexandria, "for the construction and equipment and maintenance of a suitable 'Old People's Home.'"
Our mission, to enrich the lives of everyone we serve, grew out of his vision. It affects all of our decision making – from strategic planning and which services we offer to what Care Center residents eat at dinner (and everything between).
Our mission is to enrich the lives of everyone we serve. For our residents and patients, that means a laser-like focus on finding meaning in every day.
What that means may vary – a lunch bunch in our senior apartments, chair yoga in assisted living, baking day in memory care or ten steps farther in short-term rehab (to name a few).
The lifestyle options and services we offer include:
To enrich the lives of everyone we serve.
We believe that our Christian heritage is an integral part of the care we provide.
We believe that our success depends on an engaged workforce that is able to carry out meaningful work, has a clear organizational direction and the opportunity to learn in order to achieve a high standard of performance.
We will seek to understand our customer’s desires, respond to their voice and deliver a valuable experience.
We believe we are an integral part of the communities we serve and will invest time and resources to benefit the communities, which will benefit those we serve.
We believe we must be good stewards of our financial resources to ensure adequate funds are available to fulfill our mission.
