Offering Professional CareKnute Nelson offers a comprehensive rehabilitation and short-term stay program with occupational, speech, and physical therapies to seniors who need to regain their strength after surgery or an acute illness. Rehab services are carefully designed to meet the goals identified by the client with the option of receiving care in either in-patient or out-patient environments. Once services are completed, most clients experience a seamless return to their homes. As part of Knute Nelson’s continuum of care, clients have the ability for continued rehabilitative support at the Nelson Wellness Center or therapeutic services with Knute Nelson Home Care if additional services are needed.

Certified CORE Facilities In addition to receiving traditional therapy, Knute Nelson is designated a Center for Orthopedic Rehabilitation Excellence, one of two in Minnesota. The CORE program includes intensive rehabilitation therapy designed for orthopedic clients with total hip or knee replacements or hip fractures who do not qualify for an in-patient rehab stay but are functionally ready to return home. Knute Nelson’s therapy and nursing staff are specifically trained to handle and carry out orthopedic protocols.
Ideal candidates would be individuals with total hip or knee replacements or fractures of the hip. Our staff is trained on the CORE program, which emphasizes care for post-op hips and knees. Certified CORE facilities have met strict standards in quality of patient care. Regular communication is maintained with all referring physicians. |
| The CORE program offers strengthening exercises, mobility training, medication and pain management, incision care, fall prevention strategies and more. The goal is to maximize the patient’s independent living activities, such as bathing and dressing; to help the patient move without a walker or crutches; and to teach the patient how to avoid injuries. |
